Dreams Can Come True
By working together, we can build a better community and provide our friends and neighbors with a better lifestyle. The Coachella Valley Recreation and Park Foundation’s goal is to raise funds and support The District.
Foundation activities might include land preservation, research and educational projects, establishment of permanent collections, art endowments, and the acquisition and/or development of new recreational facilities such as parks, swimming pools and community centers.
We need your support, and we need your ideas. To get involved or for more information, call 347-3484.

Here's to the Future
Our Master Plan has been completed and our board will soon consider adoption of the document. From our focus groups we received valuable input. Here are a few of the preliminary recommendations to meet the future needs of the 14 communities we serve:
Facilities:
The District should provide a premier aquatic facility with numerous amenities, work on a “major” sports complex and construct a state-of-the-art community center.
Programs:
The District should assume the role of facilitator or broker of recreation, be the source of training opportunities to meet the needs of sports organizations and not-for-profit groups, be the central resource to aide the public in locating local recreation providers and host “summit” meetings of all key recreation groups.
Once finalized and adopted, the document will be on our website. We invite those interested to assist us in the implementation of these plans. This plan is your plan.
We are very excited to have a new plan and look forward to continuing to provide the best recreational services possible!

The District looks forward to an ever-growing selection of varied programs to meet the recreation and fitness needs of our desert communities. If you have any suggestions or comments, please telephone me at 347-3484.

Rick Alvarez - Director, Division 1 (Thermal, Mecca, Oasis, North Shore & Vista Santa Rosa)
Major development continues in our division as the population rate rises. More families mean more recreational and fitness needs for our growing communities. The District is continuously planning, preparing, and implementing various programs.
Our Mecca Community Center has had many improvements; pool fencing, skid-proof resurfacing on basketball courts, news signs, and the building was re-painted. To make our children’s playground safer, we installed rubberized ground surfacing.
We’re happy to announce that the North Shore KaBOOM! Park project partnered with Coachella Valley Housing Coalition and the Riverside County to build a small park using the concept of community input and participation.
The District has many exciting plans for programs and services to meet the needs of our growing division. For any suggestions or comments, just give me a call at 347-3484.

Joanne Gilbert - Director, Division 3 (Indio & Indio Hills)
Exciting times in our division! The Indio Community Center and Park playground was upgraded, new security cameras were installed, the parking lot was resurfaced, and a new sidewalk near the playground was replaced. It’s really looking great!
The Pawley Pool Family Aquatic Complex has a new slide for added fun, and we upgraded the wading pool and splash play area with soft surfacing for comfort and safety. There’s a new roof on the pump building, some painting has been done, and new signs have replaced old ones. The complex is all ready for summer family fun!
The District is looking forward to another exciting summer full of recreation, fitness, and free concerts! Please call me at 347-3484 if you have suggestions or feedback.

Laura McGalliard - Director, Division 5 (Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage & Thousand Palms)
It’s summertime, and the District is happy to present you with a fantastic program line-up! It’s our goal to meet the recreational and fitness needs of our desert families.
Great things have been happening in our division; The Thousand Palms Community Center and Park has new outdoor fitness equipment, plus a new and improved Walking Track.
The Palm Desert Golf Center had some course improvements, but the big news was during the Grand Opening Celebration of The First Tee
Program, celebrity hoost, actor-comedian George Lopex donated $5,000 to the program.
Look through The Catalog and you’ll see some of the same great programs, and new ones, too. We look forward to expanding more programs, services, and events for you and your family. If you have
suggestions or comments contact me at 347-3484 or email me at galliards@msn.com.
