Indio Community Center
Part gym, part community center, the fitness center at the Indio Community Center is a heck of a deal. For $25 a year, Indio residents can buff up in the weight room, play racquetball and basketball, or use the indoor walking track. Same thing for Palm Desert residents, who can use the Indio facility because they have a sister center through the Desert Recreation District. But don't feel left out. For those of you who live in the 13 other local cities the district serves, it's $50 a year. While you're working out, your daughter can take a gymnastics class and your son a karate class. In the morning, coffee is served. "We really build community as part of the workout," says Tatiana Hinkle, recreation supervisor. "We're on a first-name basis with our guests."

Welcome to the "triple-digit" edition of The Catalog. This summer we invite you to stay cool while having fun and improving your health by participating in our numerous indoor activities. If you venture out in the morning, don't forget to check out The First Tee - we think its is the best par-3 golf course around.
For children ages 5-14, we now offer an outstanding summer camp experience in Coachella, indio, La Quinta, Mecca, Palm Desert and Thousand Palms.
We are again offering aquatic opportunities through Operation Splash. Thanks to a generous grant from Kaiser Permanente, we are providing free swimming, swimming lessons and lifeguard training to qualifying individuals.
New this year is our partnership with the city of Indian Wells for a July 4th celebration at the Indian Wells Golf Resort. Please join us for food, music, and of course, a spectacular fireworks show.
